49 CFR Part 40

The right rule.
At the right step.

Part 40 sets testing procedures. Your DOT agency sets coverage, testing occasions and random rates.

These links connect you to government resources. LTS software and these overview videos are not DOT approval, collector qualification or supervisor certification. Verify current rules before acting.

Straight answers

Make the switch with clarity.

Does free software mean free DOT testing?

No. The standard software integration is included with active LTS DOT services. Tests and contracted program services are billed under your agreement.

Do I have to use J. J. Keller or DISA?

Those named vendors are not mandated. Your required service arrangement depends on your agency and operations. FMCSA owner-operators must designate a C/TPA in the Clearinghouse and need the appropriate random-testing pool arrangement. We can discuss LTS as your service-agent option.

Can AI run the random draw?

AI should not choose employees or alter their odds. A selection engine uses an unbiased random method. AI may help explain resources or draft administrative checklists for human review. Our public demo uses synthetic IDs and does not run your live program.

Does this connect directly to the FMCSA Clearinghouse?

The public site links to the official Clearinghouse. It does not automate queries, access driver records or submit reports. Employer or authorized C/TPA users perform official actions with the necessary accounts and consent.

Can I put private results on my company website?

Use properly authorized private employer-account access. The public website widget contains service links only. Test results require confidentiality and disclosure controls under Part 40.
